CO2 Extraction

With Medicinal Cannabis, extraction techniques are used to isolate specific desirable compounds. Medicinal Cannabis plants contain at least 113 cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol. CO2 is a nonflammable solvent using pressurized carbon dioxide to separate the desirable components of cannabis and remove them from the plant matrix. The CO2 extraction process includes the use of subcritical and supercritical fluids, which vary in pressure and temperature.
